Although we don’t live in Vermont, the winters in our area can be tough for cycling. And by the time you get home from work, there might not be much, or any, daylight left for you to get out and ride. If you’ve ever ridden on a stationary trainer, you know it can be a great workout but can be mentally numbing. Cycle Craft and Coach Brian Lariviere will be conducting trainer classes on Wednesday nights through the winter. Each class will be 2 hours long (including warm-up and cool-down) and led by professional bicycle racer and coach, Brian Lariviere. This will be our third year for this off-season marvel - the enthusiasm in the class is always addictive, and the motivation levels stay high for all participants.

Congratulations to Gerilynn Kucharski who earned the New Jersey Cyclocross Champion's Jersey in the Women's B field on Sunday, November 13, 2011. Day 2 of Westwood Velo's 2-day brought us very muddy conditions despite the warm temperatures and dry weather. Gerilynn used the difficult conditions to her advantage to take first place on both days, and on day 2 she walked away with the jersey! Well done! |

Looking for a few more hours of trail maintenance before the end of the year? Here is your chance...
We are meeting this Sunday from 8:30 to 10:30 at the Cranberry Lake park & ride on Rte 206 in Byram for some rail-trail clean-up and litter patrol from 8:30 to 10:30. We'll be walking North on the Sussex Branch rail-trail, which tends to get water-logged, so bring appropriate footwear and gloves. The weather looks good, please check this site at 7:30AM on Sunday in case of any unexpected weather events that might cause us to cancel.

Join Cycle Craft in bringing Thanksgiving dinner to families who could use a little help this year. On Saturday November 19th, for the third year, we will ride as a group over to the supermarket to pick up some frozen turkeys and ride them over to the New Jersey Food Bank food drive drop off point in Florham Park. The ride is not far but it is a bit challenging to carry a 25lb turkey on your bike! ( A backpack works pretty well) We will meet at 8:00AM at Cycle Craft Parsippany and finish up around 10:30 with cider, donuts, and coffee at the store. Last year we delivered 27 turkeys. This year we would love to make it over 60. Won't you join us? Click on the picture above to see a little video of last year's ride. Click here to register! |
